CLARE SHORT IN BRENTWOOD.

On Thursday, 8th June Clare Short will be addressing a meeting of Brentwood CND on the subject of Trident renewal. In Brentwood we have been campaigning for several months now to raise awareness in the town of the Government's plans for replacing the present Trident nuclear submarine with a new generation of nuclear weapons, thus contravening our commitments under the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty. Additionally, whilst reporting Iran to the UN Security Council for developing nuclear power, Tony Blair has recently given his clearest signal yet that his government is poised to give the go-ahead to the building of a new series of nuclear power stations. Clare is part of a parliamentary coalition to try to persuade government, at the very least, to have a full debate on both these issues.

Come and hear what Clare has to say - you can be sure that you will get straight talking from someone not afraid to confront government on matters of principle.
